Giovanna Talocci
Designer and interior architect, she began her professional career during the second half of the 1970s after completing her education first at the artistic secondary school in Via Ripetta in Rome, and subsequently with a specialisation course at the Hotech-Italia, which introduced her to the world of furniture. In 1995 she founded her own studio, Talocci Design, together with her daughter Manuela Impellizzeri. The studio operates with a group of collaborators mainly in the product and exhibit design fields, as well as dealing in communication and event organisation. A natural curiosity for innovation, her research into materials and technology and an insightful observation of her surroundings have allowed her to design in an extremely wide range of fields, and for prestigious companies such as Teuco, Effegibi, Foppapedretti, Fantini , Poltrona Frau, Provex, Falper, Scarabeo Ceramiche, Fratelli Guzzini, Fornara & Maulini, Luceplan, Rapsel, Viasat, Italaquae, San Lorenzo, Domo, Metalmobil, Rina Menardi, Gran Tour bagno, DMP Electronics, and Stilhaus. She has received numerous acknowledgements, including six selections for the ADI Design Index, six Mentions of Honour at the Golden Compass, four Design Plus awards, and two German Design Award. She also combines her work as a designer and interior architect with art direction. She has curated many cultural events and has participated, both as a guest and as a presenter, in a number of television programmes on design. She has been president of various design contest commissions and she has taught at a number of universities and design schools. She has been a member of the ADI since 1979, and she has been on the ADI’s National Directive Committee since 2004 to 2017, becoming Vice president since 2014 to 2017. She is a member of the Orientation Committee for the National Innovation Award and she was also part of the first Italian Design Council. (ph. Yoshie Nishikawa)
