The Sfere necklace is the first in a long series of design jewelry from Milan-based signature San Lorenzo, designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa in 1990. It was created as if by play from a simple traditional idea: the necklace is composed of the primary elements of silver spheres and a black string, with the addition of the San Lorenzo brand and the designers signature.
An established, middle-class type of jewellery like a string of pearls is reinvented in silver by the Scarpas. It is precisely the string that is the surprise in this collection. It can be offered in different colors and becomes an integral part of the design, on a par with the pearl, showing that the “service” elements can often hold surprises.
